    Description

Civil Justice, Inc., seeks a professional to serve as Program Manager for the Maryland Justice Passport (“the Justice Passport) project. The Maryland Justice Passport is a trauma-informed technology helping Marylanders find effective legal and social services assistance. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology-minded individual to improve access to justice for all Marylanders.

About the Passport: Marylanders without lawyers often visit multiple organizations to address their legal problem. When tasked with visiting different organizations, they may have difficulty keeping track of where they’ve been, as well as keeping track of important paperwork. In addition, these Marylanders may forget their next steps, and may be retraumatized by re-telling their story to other service providers. The Maryland Justice Passport is a trauma-informed technology that empowers Marylanders and improves their ability to navigate the Maryland legal services delivery system.

    Job Responsibilities include:

    • Work with a diverse group of stakeholders including legal services providers, self-help centers, court staff, judges, and magistrates as well as social services providers.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, stakeholders, and others interested in the Passport.
    • Identify and implement technological enhancements to the Justice Passport that will improve usability for litigants and service providers.
    • Conduct stakeholder engagement and feedback sessions.
    • Plan, execute, and analyze user research, including technological testing and open-ended feedback via one-on-one conversations
    • Ensure that all grant deliverables are successfully completed each quarter
    • Serve as point of contact and technological support for litigant users
    • Draft all grant report and proposal narratives
    • Identify and recruit new Passport partner agencies
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to publicize the Passport, including presentations and conferences
    • Meet with stakeholders both in-person and remotely for onboarding, support, and feedback.

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • One or more years of program management experience.
    • Comfort quickly learning new technologies.
    • Excellent writing skills for a variety of audiences
    • Ability to demonstrate creativity and diplomacy while working with a diverse group of individuals and organizations.
    • Rapid follow-up and response times
    • Ease in communicating and building trust with diverse individuals, including both litigants and partners
    • Comfort presenting frequently to a variety of groups and in a range of settings, often on short notice.
    • Effectively manage competing priorities and overlapping deadlines
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for expanding access to justice.

    Preferred:

    • Knowledge of the civil legal system.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is strongly preferred.

CJ is fully remote, though regular travel to central Maryland will be required. Only candidates in Maryland or bordering states who are willing to travel to Baltimore at least quarterly will be considered.
