Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrument Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to maintain, calibrate, and fabricate instruments used in various applications. This role requires field service experience and proficiency with tools such as an ohmmeter, as well as familiarity with E & I (Electrical and Instrumentation) practices. The Instrument Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and accuracy of instrumentation systems.
Responsibilities
Cable building
• Digital Multimeter (Understands how to Ohm resistance, verify source signal, continuity test, measure current vs voltage, AC and DC)
• Wire/Cable Strippers
• Soldering (24-18 AWG wire) Mil standard connectors to wires
• Crimping proper sized Ferrules
• Precision Calibrator (Source Meter-Current and Voltage signal)
• Thermocouple wiring color coding
• Labeling wires end for easy verification
• Conduct field service visits to install, repair, and maintain equipment at client sites.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve instrument functionality and reliability.
• Document all maintenance activities, calibrations, and repairs performed on instruments.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during all operations.
National Instruments Hardware
• Understand pinouts for excitation and input signal
• Understand Differential/single-ended channel, Loop powered
• Grounding signals
• Terminate wires to terminal blocks associated to the proper channel
Qualifications
• Proven experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance or related field service roles.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Familiarity with calibration processes and the use of calibration tools such as Calypso.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
