ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Grocery department is central to our customers’ experience. It’s important that the Front End exhibits strong communication, attentive organizational skills, and an optimistic attitude. This role is responsible for setting up and/or closing down the store for daily business, providing warm hospitality, and ensuring the practice of company standards.

The Grocery / Produce Team at LAG&C is our center of gravity, dedicated to presenting the community with local, organic staples and just-picked produce from favorite farmers’ market vendors alongside enduring pantry essentials and specialty items. Each member of the Grocery / Produce Team is an active participant and a bridge toward our mission of exploring generative food systems that enrich the lives of people and the places they live.

WHAT YOUR TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:

Ensure all opening and closing procedures have been completed.
Serve customers with a positive, timely and willing attitude.
Educate daily about new products, changes to produce, and cafe menu items.
Maintain & clean all merchandising areas: shelves, bins, tables, and refrigerators.
Re-stock or organize merchandising area to maintain an “untouched” appearance.
Accurately price all merchandise: stamping, marking, or placing shelf tags/signs, as needed.
Assist Produce department with opening display at beginning of day or proper storage at end of day.
Assist customers with product selection which may include making recommendations based on customer needs
Share product knowledge with customers.
Educate yourself daily in order to create expertise in the department that includes: farmer information, recommended uses, storage, etc.
Maintain a beautiful check out area for customers.
Maintain a clean & safe work area at all times.
Check out customers efficiently using company established policies and procedures.
Bag groceries appropriately and efficiently for customers.
Count cash register at beginning of shift and/or balance cash register at end of shift
Follow the employee handbook at all times, especially on service standards and appearance.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Grocery, service, and/or hospitality experience.
Interest and/or seasonal produce and thoughtfully sourced products.
Proficient point of sale experience.
Proficient at cash reconciliation.
Acute organizing and strong project management skills
Passion for warm hospitality and quality customer service.
Strong verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with management, co-workers and customers that contribute to a productive and joyous team environment.
Exemplifies company guidelines/protocols, workplace safety and health department standards.
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, as needed.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Possess full body mobility (bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching)
