    Description

    Fundraising Development Consultant

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Analyze current individual donors by reviewing their past contributions and engagement patterns.
    • Use existing organizational tools to maximize donations from the current population of individual donors.
    • Develop and implement a grant-focused fundraising strategy.
    • Conduct research to identify new donor prospects by analyzing information from in-house files, published materials and on-line computer databases.
    • Develop and submit Letters of Intent (LOIs) for opportunities identified during the research phase.
    • Serve as the primary grantwriter in collaboration with senior VHPI leaders who have relevant subject-level expertise.
    • Consult with and report to an adhoc fundraising committee and Steering Committee.

    Deliverables:

    • Identify 20+ prospective funders and generate detailed funder briefs for top 10 prospective funders that should includes average grant size, open funding opportunities, alignment, key points of contact, examples of similar awards, geographic or other consideration, an outline for action items including deadlines and/or engagement strategies
    • Prepare and submit 10+ LOIs and/or full proposals for funders with greatest alignment and track timelines for award notifications.
    • Create and maintain a basic system for keeping track of submissions and deadlines.

    Qualifications:

    • Three to five years of experience in fundraising. Candidates should have a recent track record of securing money from individual and organizational donors for progressive non-profits and/or left-leaning political organizations.
    • Need strong development research and grant writing skills, plus the ability to think creatively and strategically about the constraints and opportunities VHPI faces in fundraising.
    • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter who can produce deliverables on a deadline without close supervision.
    • Ability to work in teams and skillfully manage differences of opinion.
    • Candidates should be strong listeners and be able to integrate verbal and written information quickly and effectively.

    Salary and Time:

    • Part-Time Consultant (5-10 hours/week for 6-10 months)
    • Salary depending on experience up to $75 per hour
