ORGANIZATION

Mijente is a digital and grassroots hub for Latinx and Chicanx organizing, building collective power for racial, economic, climate, and gender justice. Since 2015, it has served as a political home, connecting communities across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and beyond through organizing, training, and cultural expression. Mijente creates spaces for learning, collaboration, and healing while challenging systemic injustices. As we grow, we are strengthening our organizing infrastructure and seeking passionate individuals committed to movement-building.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Video Content Creator is a passionate storyteller who will create audio-visual digital content for all of Mijente’s social media and Mijente projects. This content will go from story-telling and educational content to reels, videos, and all needed to communicate better and promote the organization's work. The Video Content Creator will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Mijente’s branding and style throughout the content produced. As part of the Communications Team, the Video Content Creator will oversee the production of video content necessary to promote activities, make educational and evergreen content, support Mijente’s Hubs, and contribute to anything that requires creating digital, visual, and artistic content.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Video Content Creation

• Work with the communications team to get an understanding of the short-term and long-term organizational goals and then develop content strategies accordingly
• Stay in communication with the Deputy Communications Director on areas in which we need to improve our content creation.

Digital Content

• Creating and reviewing content for social media pages, website, emails, field needs, and public communications
• Collaborating with the communications team to engage audiences and improve the organization's initiatives and priorities.

Analytics & Data

• Track and report social media data and analytics
• Brainstorm and suggest new ways to improve traffic and engagement by tapping into new platforms, channels, and content.

REQUIREMENTS

• Creative & Technical Skills: Strong videography (pre/post-production), graphic design, and audio editing skills. Familiarity with platforms like CapCut, Canva, Adobe, Procreate, and other digital tools. Understanding of GIFs, stickers, and audiovisual formats. A keen eye for aesthetics and detail.
• Organizational & Interpersonal Skills: Effective time management, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines under pressure. Conflict resolution skills and ability to maintain strong relationships. Open to feedback and committed to skill development.
• Commitment & Logistics: Strong alignment with Mijente’s theory of change and organizing model. Must have reliable high-speed internet and a newer model laptop.
• Language: Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Pay is $3,000 per month. This is a part-time contract position with no benefits.
