The Position
Anderson Pine is seeking an experienced Senior Civil-Structural Engineer to support the development and design of photovoltaic solar power plants, stormwater infrastructure, and water resource projects. The position will include the design of concrete slab on grade foundations, drilled piers and pile caps, and underground concrete vaults. Other structures may include concrete drainage channels and culverts, drilled pier monopole foundations, and retaining walls. The Senior Civil-Structural Engineer will possess a keen understanding of geotechnical reporting and design recommendations to support subterranean reinforced concrete design. The Senior Civil-Structural Engineer will also possess a keen understanding of AASHTO HL-93 vehicular loading and reinforced concrete detailing. The Senior Civil-Structural Engineer will manage CAD standards and develop drawings for a variety of projects. Drawings will include conceptual, permitting, and issue-for-construction. In addition to possessing the requisite technical skills and experience, a prime candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and communications skills, integrity, customer focus, and a strong sense of project ownership.
Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas
Production
Develop conceptual, permitting, and issue-for-construction reinforced concrete drawings, specifications, calculations, and basis of design memoranda.
Site plans, sections, details, and elevation drawings.
Structural construction details.
Basis of design reports / memoranda.
Issue-for-construction specifications and cost estimates.
Review structural drawings and designs of others.
Provide quality control and quality assurance on all drawings developed and received, to ensure that all requirements and specifications are met prior to issuance to clients and project stakeholders.
IT Software and Equipment
Research, purchase, and manage structural analysis software.
Business Development
Attend networking and project pre-bid meetings.
Identify key engineering services opportunities by reviewing existing project database(s), networking with industry professionals, and monitoring publications.
Outreach to target clients via email, telephone conversations, social media, and in-person meetings.
Update and expand the target client database based on web research, telephone conversations, and industry knowledge.
Outreach
Support Anderson Pine’s commitment to STEM.
Coordinate activities, presentations, and engagements with STEM associations.
Attend outreach events and co-facilitate engineering projects such as, straw tower, egg drop, etc.
Subconsultants
Support engagements and agreements with external consultants such as external CAD support, land surveyors, electrical engineers, etc.
B.I.G.
Diligence in support of Anderson Pine’s long-term growth objectives.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience working as a civil or structural engineer.
MS Office suite, Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, L-Pile, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, ETABS, TEKLA TEDDS, TEKLA STRUCTURES
International Building Code (IBC), California Building Code (CBC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), ASCE 7, AISC
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with clients and project stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and prioritize deliverables.
Education
B.S. Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Travel
Valid driver’s license.
Occasional travel to project sites, networking, and STEM outreach events.
