Villanova Preparatory School, a private, co-ed Catholic college preparatory day and boarding
high school located in Ojai, California, is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to assist in
maintaining and analyzing the financial and personnel records of the school. The successful
candidate will be detail oriented and have strong analytical skills.

The Staff Accountant is a member of the School’s finance team, reporting to the Director of
Financial Affairs.

Specific areas of responsibility include: .
● With the bookkeeper, processes accounts receivable and accounts payable.
● Monitors collections on tuition accounts and keeps the Director of Financial Affairs
apprised of the status of accounts.
● Reconciles bank statements and balances the ledger accounts for regular reports.
● Assists in preparation of monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and
completeness of financial data
● Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections
● Assist in the budgeting process by providing financial data and analysis
● Assists in developing appropriate benchmark data and information for setting of annual
tuition rates and employee compensation.
● Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for
improvement
● Looks for ways to improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary expenses and enhance
revenue
● Assists in preparation of documentation for external auditors
● Performs preliminary review of student financial aid submissions
● Assist in the processing of payroll and employee benefits for school personnel.
● Helps to securely maintain accurate and timely employee personnel records.
● Assists with employee onboarding and offboarding.
● Completes special projects as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
● Demonstrate strong financial acumen and understanding of accounting principles
● Experience with accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and account
reconciliation
● Must be self-directed and able to work independently, while also work well with others
● Must have critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
● Exceptional skills in the areas of organization, attention to detail, time management,
ability to manage multiple tasks
● Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Experience with ADP payroll processing a plus
● Proficiency with QuickBooks (desktop) a plus
● Proficiency with Google workspace and MS Office products

Compensation/Benefits:
Compensation range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year. Villanova offers a full benefits package that
