At Atascadero Hils Dental, the Insurance Coordinator (IC) ensures that patients’ dental insurance coverages are processed efficiently.
The IC interacts with both patients and insurance companies to manage claims and provide an accurate cost estimate to patients.
IC duties and responsibilities include:
• Verifying patients’ dental insurance coverage and benefits
• Coordinating and processing dental insurance claims
• Communicating with insurance companies to resolve any coverage or claim issues
• Providing patients with a detailed breakdown of dental procedures and out-of-pocket costs
• Updating patient records with current insurance information
• Collecting and processing patient co-pays and deductibles
• Working closely with dental office staff to ensure all procedures are billed correctly
• Training office staff on insurance policies and procedures
• Following up on unpaid insurance claims and denials
• Posting payments in patient files accurately.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Dental Insurance Coordinator or similar role in a dental office.
• Knowledge of dental insurance billing and coding.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• Proficiency in using office software and dental practice management software.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certification in dental billing is a plus.
