POSITION OVERVIEW
The Non-CDL Solid Waste Collection Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of smaller solid waste collection vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). This role involves the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste and recyclable materials from residential and commercial sites. The driver ensures adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements while delivering excellent customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate Waste Collection Vehicles:
-Safely drive and operate smaller solid waste collection vehicles such as side loaders, rear loaders, or pickup trucks.
-Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
-Safely load, transport, and unload waste materials, adhering to all company and regulatory safety protocols.
Collection & Disposal:
-Collect waste and recyclable materials from residential and commercial locations as per the assigned route.
-Follow any special instructions outlined in the service agreement for individual accounts.
-Ensure waste is properly secured in the vehicle to prevent spillage or accidents during transportation.
-Deliver collected materials to designated disposal or recycling facilities.
Customer Service:
-Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner, addressing any concerns or questions regarding waste collection services.
-Report any service-related issues to the supervisor, including missed pickups, improperly prepared waste, or customer complaints.
Safety & Compliance:
-Follow all local, state, and federal regulations regarding waste collection and disposal.
-Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols to minimize the risk of injury.
-Report any safety hazards or vehicle issues to the maintenance department promptly.
Record Keeping:
-Maintain accurate records of work performed, including route logs, vehicle maintenance reports, and any incidents that occur during the route.
-Complete and submit all required paperwork at the end of each shift.
Team Collaboration:
-Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members to ensure smooth and efficient route operations.
-Assist with training new drivers and providing feedback on route efficiency and safety.
Other Duties as Assigned:
-Assist with Transfer Station/MRF or yard operations as needed, including asset management, equipment operation, and general labor tasks.
-Participate in company training programs and meetings as required.
-Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support the overall operations of the company.

-Good communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
-Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in the field.
REQUIRED & DESIRED EXPERIENCE
-Previous experience in waste collection, delivery driving, or similar roles is preferred.
-Familiarity with the operation of smaller waste collection vehicles and related equipment is a plus.
-Requires a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
PHYSICAL, DRIVING, TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
-Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects 60 pounds regularly.
-Employee must be able to work night shifts starting at 5:30pm.
-Comfortable working in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
-Ability to sit for extended periods while driving and operate a vehicle for long hours.
-The role primarily involves outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions.
-The driver must adhere to strict safety protocols and is expected to work independently with minimal supervision.
