Job Summary:Immediate opening for a dynamic Division Manager of MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) for our New York City office. This is a senior level leadership position anticipated to be a pivotal part of growing our NYC team. The Division Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of projects within their team, encompassing a wide range of activities such as project documentation, bidding, bid analysis, project meetings, project tracking, project budgets and comprehensive report writing, this includes doing design in AutoCAD when necessary. Providing mentorship and leadership to staff is integral to the role. The ideal candidate will consistently deliver assignments within designated timelines and budgetary constraints. The Division Manager demonstrates a high level of accuracy in their work and will operate under minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in either Mechanical or Electrical design and competency in MEP building coordination, as well as working knowledge of all applicable NYC local laws and energy codes.
Essential Functions for All Technical Positions
- Coordinate and manage internal kick-off, milestone, and closeout meetings for projects, fostering effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
- Verify schedules and ensure adherence to project plans and timelines, both internally and with external resources, to meet project objectives efficiently.
- Conduct on-site inspections, documenting existing conditions, performing field testing, photographing, and creating hand-sketches. Observes/ tracks work in progress to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Records accurate field measurements and performs calculations throughout the duration of the project including alteration reviews
- Prepare written correspondence with clients and contractors, maintaining clear and professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Understand investigation reports and bid documents, including drawings and technical specifications, to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation.
- Communicate project status and proactively address any issues or discrepancies that arise. Escalate unresolved issues to their direct supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized records, files, drawings, and other essential project data ensuring that they are appropriately filed within the company's systems for easy accessibility and future reference.
- MEP, Energy and Code liaison with Falcon's Architects, Civil and Structural Engineers and Project Managers
- Collect post-project feedback to identify areas of improvement and communicate this feedback to their direct supervisor.
- Keep up to date with job knowledge and industry trends through active participation in educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and engaging in professional societies and networks.
- Engage in networking activities and represent the company at events, seminars, continuing education presentations. Actively seek marketing opportunities to promote the organization's presence in the industry. (Not limited to exclusive company events.)
- Performs other duties as related to the position as assigned by the firm, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to contributing to the overall success of the team.
Special RequirementsTechnical - Provide technical guidance and expertise to team throughout the design and construction phases, maintaining a strong understanding of relevant regulations, codes and standards to ensure compliance.
- Perform MEP inspections to assess project conditions and identify potential issues or deficiencies, applying technical expertise.
- Supervises testing activities and ensures accurate data collection for accurate interpretation of results. Perform a wide range of testing, including but not limited to mechanical, electrical and plumbing testing.
- Produce comprehensive field reports detailing observations, measurements, and findings from site visits and inspections.
- Oversee and assist in the design, development and review of technical specifications, drawings and construction documents.
- Generate expert reports that provide in-depth analysis, conclusions, and recommendations based on project requirements and findings.
- Effectively present at mediations and provide expert testimony through depositions, showcasing expertise and opinions.
- Participate in Technical Reviews and Assessments for Legal Matters
- Performs Facilities Condition Assessments, Property Condition Assessments, Turnover and Acceptance of Construction Projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge and familiarity of NYC Building Codes, International Building Codes, ASME Codes and Standards, NFPA, ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines and other Federal, State and Local Codes
Client Relations- Collaborate with legal teams and represent the firm in mediations, providing expert opinions and strategic guidance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners, and stakeholders.
- Drive regional growth by identifying new business opportunities and expanding the company's footprint in key markets.
- Actively participate in and contribute to marketing and promotional efforts to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation in the region.
- Conduct all types of project meetings with clients and stakeholders effectively.
- Act as a trusted advisor, foster and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with company goals, ensuring both regional and overall growth.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to implement effective campaigns tailored to the needs and trends of the region.
Internal Team - Collaborate with Principals to develop and execute long-term strategic plans that drive business growth and expansion.
- Provide strategic leadership and vision to align the company's goals and objectives with the industry trends and market opportunities.
- Develop and implement effective marketing and business development strategies to expand the company's client base and market presence.
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the entire department, ensuring the achievement of company goals and objectives.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to senior leaders, supporting their professional growth and development.
- Review project work, budget, goals, deliverables, and timelines to ensure success and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
- Collaborate closely with team to address technical challenges, provide guidance, and facilitate problem-solving.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and achieve organizational objectives by collaborating with other divisions and departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: - This position has supervisory responsibilities, overseeing staff in the NYC office
- Recommend promotion, termination and performance improvement plan for team members based on performance evaluations and assessments.
- Conducts interviews to identify and recruit talented individuals who align with our firm's values and goals.
- Perform annual performance reviews, providing constructive feedback, setting performance goals, and identifying professional development opportunities.
- Estimated annual salary range for this position is $ 120,000 to $ 175,000. The salary listed is an estimate and not guaranteed. The salary offered will vary based on experience, education, skills, abilities, and certifications/license
QUALIFICATIONS:Education - Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Architecture.
Work Experience - 5- Years of experience at a minimum with at least 18 months of supervisory or team lead experience in an MEP firm or Design Studio
- Ten plus years of experience at a minimum in the architectural and engineering consulting industry.
- Business Development experience a plus
- Existing and Public Building Experience a Plus
Licenses & Certifications - Professional Engineer is preferred.
- OSHA-30 Certification.
- Valid United States Driver's License required, as this position requires travel to and from client sites.
