Minimum of 12 ECE (Early Childhood Education) units, including at least 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development. If you have 6 units, even better! An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred, but not required, so long as you’re willing to learn, accept constructive feedback, and keep growing professionally through professional development workshops, trainings, and courses.
Dependable and punctual. You may be an “opener” or a “closer. “ Being on time is key!
Experience working with infants 6 weeks- 24 Months is highly preferred
Current: Adult, Child, Infant CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
Infant Sleep Certificate- Willing to obtain, if you don’t have it.
Water Safety Training (Red Cross), willing to obtain if you don’t have it
Classroom Teaching Experience (Montessori Highly Desired. If not, be open to learning).
Experience preparing meals for infants daily (snack)
Ability to kneel, bend, squat, move quickly, and stand for long periods of time
Familiar with developmental milestones, as you will be documenting and communicating with families daily.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, families, and members of the community.
Ability to accept feedback. Our goal is for you to succeed in this position, but in order to achieve that you must be willing to continually improve your skill set.
You must be flexible and adaptable. As someone who will part of a team you must be willing to help wherever needed in the center.
You will be representing the infant center. Dress and carry yourself professionally as an educator.
If you speak a second language, that would be AMAZING!
Your responsibilities (not inclusive):
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to support infants' developmental needs. These will be reviewed weekly with the Director and/ or Assistant Director.
Schedule Parent Conferences. Conferences are held twice a year, or more, at parent’s request.
Provide individualized care and attention, ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of each infant. You must be a VERY patient, empathetic, and attentive person.
Foster positive relationships with parents/caregivers in order to maintain open communication about their child’s progress and needs. You’ll support parents by offering resources.
You must be able to write and speak and write in a clear, objective, and professional manner.
Observe, document, and assess developmental milestones and when an infant is running low on diapers and wipes, or reactions to new foods they are trying. Keep accurate and current records for each child. These will be reviewed monthly with the director and /or assistant director.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Follow all safety protocols.
Attend staff in-service training/ staff development (sometimes on Saturdays)
Assist, as needed, with infant center events
Report anything that needs attention or repair ASAP
We serve 2 snacks per day (parents pack breakfast and lunch). You will be required to prepare snack daily, and will rotate this duty with the other teachers.
Adhere to all state licensing regulations and center policies under Title 22.
Support the center’s success, partnering with center staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment and engagement. This includes and is not limited to participating in professional development. You will be required to engage in professional development monthly.
Other duties as assigned.
