Essential Functions and Purpose: The
Benefits Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that employee benefit plans are administered effectively and in alignment with service level expectations. This involves maintaining strong relationships with brokers to oversee global benefit and wellness plans, ensuring they meet client needs. Additionally, the Benefits Manager is responsible for managing all leave of absence processes and conducting audits to mitigate business risks, working closely with HR Business Partner team and third-party administrators (TPAs) to ensure compliance with relevant regulations. The Benefits Manager will be responsible for wellness initiatives and oversee the management of retirement plans, such as 401(k) and RRSP, collaborating with brokers and auditors to ensure these plans are compliant and annual audits are processed smoothly. To excel in this role, a deep understanding of employment laws and regulations related to leaves and benefit management is essential, enabling the Benefits Manager to navigate complex legal landscapes and ensure the company remains compliant. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the company's benefits programs.
Required Qualifications:- Four years of experience in HR Benefits Department.
- Four years of experience in managing leave cases FMLA, ADA and STD.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, USERRA, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Principal Responsibilities: - Administer Employee Benefit Plans: Oversee the effective administration of global employee benefit plans, ensuring they align with service level expectations and meet the needs of employees.
- Broker Relationship Management: Maintain and strengthen relationships with brokers to ensure benefit plans are effectively managed and compliant with company standards.
- Leave of Absence Management: Manage all leave of absence processes and case management, ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
- Wellness Program Development: Design and implement comprehensive wellness programs that promote employee health and well-being, aligning with company goals and employee needs. This includes identifying and collaborating with external wellness vendors and resources to offer a variety of wellness activities and initiatives.
- Risk Mitigation and Auditing: Conduct regular audits of benefit plans (FSA, HSA, etc.) and leave processes to identify and mitigate potential business risks.
- Third-Party Administrator Coordination: Collaborate with third-party administrators (TPAs) to ensure compliance with benefit-related regulations and efficient plan administration.
- Retirement Plan Oversight: Oversee the management of retirement plans, such as 401(k) and RRSP, ensuring they are compliant with legal requirements and company policies.
- Audit Collaboration: Partner with auditors to facilitate the smooth processing of annual audits for benefit and retirement plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about employment laws and regulations related to benefits and leaves, ensuring the company remains compliant.
- Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution: Proactively address and resolve issues related to benefit plans and leave management, maintaining the integrity of the programs.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement policies and procedures related to benefits and leave management, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective.
- Employee Communication and Support: Provide clear communication and support to employees regarding their benefits and leave options, addressing any questions or concerns.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data related to benefit plan usage and effectiveness, providing reports and recommendations for improvements to senior HR management.
