WHAT YOU’LL DO
At TJX, the mission of the Global Site Solutions Organization is to drive holistic technology strategy to enable the entire end-to-end lifecycle of a TJX site. We are embarking on a multiyear journey to modernize and enhance over 40 applications to support Real Estate, Store Planning, Property Development, and Workplace Services value stream to deliver more value for our global business partners.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Staff Scrum Master to help us evolve our current delivery model and lead our function through the preparation and delivery of the PI events using the SAFe framework for the Global Site Solutions Organization.
As a Staff Scrum Master, you’ll be guiding and supporting an agile release train (ART) across many scrum teams that support and enhance solutions across the Real Estate, Store Planning, Property Development, and Workplace Services value streams. You will lead and facilitate program level ceremonies that support the delivery of epics that increase business value. Your core responsibilities will be enabling teams as a true servant leader to ensure that goals, scope, and budget are met by the teams and the ART. You will improve ART performance by identifying resolution of program impediments and being a change agent with continuous improvement. You will foster an environment where the team can be effective, addressing any team dynamics. You will collaborate with multiple partners across the ART, work across other areas within IT, as well as with our customers.
You will serve as a Servant Leader/Coach for a maximum of 1-3 Scrum teams. You will consult and guide seasoned team members through critical thinking, establish a center of excellence through best practices, tooling, metrics, and templates, and ensure best-in-class collaboration.
Additionally, you will:
- Demonstrate versatility in both scrum and waterfall methodologies in a hybrid environment-creating implementation plans.
- Be adept at guiding teams and driving initiatives.
- Successfully collaborate within a matrixed setting, with tangible contributions to business outcomes.
- Exhibit critical thinking and have a track record of fostering positive change.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the senior scrum master for the agile release train, and facilitate ART execution
- Creates project implementation plans for initiatives and facilitates production readiness
- Leader to facilitate program level processes and execution, escalates impediments, manages risks, and helps drive program-level continuous improvement
- Facilitates PI Planning readiness by preparing the vision and backlogs and facilitates the PI events
- Facilitates sync meetings (scrum-of-scrums, PO sync, ART sync, etc.)
- Enables the product organization to ensure that the operation of the ART aligns with strategy and execution needs to deliver value to customers
- Aggregates & publishes PI objectives for transparency
- Leads the development, stewardship, and improvement of agile metrics & tooling to enable highly functioning and performant teams (e.g. estimation & pointing, tracking risks, burndowns, capacity/velocity, value stewardship, etc. with associated dashboarding)
- Leads lean-agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, and scrum masters in new processes and mindsets
- Leads adaption of SAFe to the organization, standardizing and documenting practices
- Manages and optimizes flow of value through the program
- Drives continuous improvement through Inspect & Adapt workshops
- Is a leader of people, and embodies people leadership qualities to coach, develop, mentor, manage, and accelerate their team members.
- Works with the product and project analyst organization to steward the budget of the ART and manages finances within plan.
- Examples of portfolio-level responsibilities include projecting strategic investment & capacity needs, orchestrating work from portfolio-to-scrum team layer in SAFe framework, enterprise annual planning process, and managing the ART labor and capacity budget.
- Examples of program-level responsibilities include ownership of agile metrics, epic-level rolling plan stewardship, portfolio health monitoring, work orchestration, program increment ceremonies, innovation & planning strategies, and blocker removal.
- Understands and operates within the product team budget
- Responsible for ensuring that the committed to sprint backlog is completed
WHAT YOU’LL NEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent engineering skillset, training, or technical work experience
- 1-2 years as a scrum master, ideally within a SAFe framework, and at least 2 years managing projects.
- 8+ years of experience as a senior scrum master, release train engineer, or similar
- A mindset for continuous process improvement, driven by a focus on delivering value through efficiency
- Ability to influence effectively with and without formal authority
- Ability to analyze and reconcile financials, establish KPIs that matter, and instill standards that ensure the ART runs efficiently
- Assist in the administration and management of 3rd party resources & Statements of Work
- Evangelize and lead Program Increment events & overall portfolio support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowing your audience
- Proven success working a highly collaborative, matrix environment, with a track record of measurable business impact
- Capability to demonstrate critical thinking and proven track record of positive change
- Solid understanding of agile methodology, scrum, SAFe, and agile tools (JIRA, Confluence)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SAFe Agilist and SAFe Scrum Master (CSM) Certification
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
This position has a starting salary range of $99,500 to $129.300 per year.
Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
