We are seeking a
Senior Packaging Technical Specialist to lead and manage innovative packaging initiatives from conception to commercialization. This role involves evaluating the feasibility of new packaging projects, coordinating national line trials, and ensuring the successful execution of packaging and product performance testing. As a key technical expert, you will collaborate with Procurement, Marketing, and Operations teams while maintaining compliance with organizational and legal standards.
This is an on-site position, based out of our winemaking facility in Grimsby, Ontario.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct & Package Development- Lead new packaging initiatives and provide technical expertise for troubleshooting and innovation.
- Oversee technical and plant trial testing for new packaging, products, and processes.
- Assess technical feasibility for cost-saving packaging initiatives and post-implementation improvements.
- Develop and approve technical packaging specifications.
- Conduct technical studies and present findings to stakeholders.
- Manage and support over 100 national projects across Marketing, Supply, and Operations.
- Prepare and coordinate progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
Vendor & Supplier Management- Ensure incoming materials and vendor documentation meet technical and regulatory packaging standards.
- Support National Operations teams in technical aspects of vendor innovation, processing, packaging, and warehousing.
- Ensure compliance with packaging standards and quality assurance agreements.
- Develop and manage Quality Assurance Agreements with suppliers, ensuring alignment and approvals.
- Foster professional relationships with external vendors and implement process improvements through new technology.
Quality Assurance- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Recommend and implement quality improvements under Food Safety (HACCP) standards.
- Facilitate updates to SOPs, policies, training materials, and other technical documentation.
- Suggest modifications to enhance quality and production standards within equipment capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related technical field.
- years of experience in packaging development, manufacturing, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, product performance testing, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in managing supplier relationships and quality assurance agreements.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
