Job Description: Role Summary
The Director of Operations is an integral part of the PRECITECH leadership team and critical to our ongoing success.
Responsible for the Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Facilities teams, you will have both strategic and tactical responsibility for developing, implementing and delivering our Operations strategies in support of our operational goals.

What you’ll be doing
- Hold overall responsibility for Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Continuous Improvement, Quality and Supply Chain activities across the business, including the monitoring and management of budgets and operational performance.

- Be responsible for ensuring a positive safety culture in collaboration with other senior leadership team members; ensuring that the health, safety and wellbeing of all personnel is our number one priority.
- Develop SMART objectives for and with your team to aid and improve business performance, whilst utilising and promoting high levels of engagement with Self Directed Teams across all teams for which you have responsibility.
- Implement Operational Excellence and lean principles, along with the processes and procedures to drive improvements in business performance and best in class practice.
- Serve as a backup for the Business Manager during periods of absence and holidays and/or attend key meetings and events on their behalf as required.
- In collaboration with the Finance, Human Resources, Value Stream Managers and department leads, develop the annual budget and forecasts, along with all Capital Expenditure proposals and in line with all legal requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with leaders cross-functionally to measure product sales and optimise profitability through quality management and lean initiatives.
- Prioritise production to ensure that customer orders and expectations are consistently achieved.
- Proactively contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impacts on manufacturing.
- Identify what and where infrastructure improvements are required, developing the business case to achieve the required investment.
Who you’ll be working with
- You will work and collaborate with operations leadership across Opthalmic Precision Solutions and the Ultra Precision Technology division.
- You will collaborate and strategize with your peers on the leadership team at PRECITECH to create and execute a site vision, mission, 3-5 year strategy, and annual goals.
- You will liaise with sales and customers as needed to ensure we are providing excellent customer support.
This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related operations discipline required.
- Demonstrable experience of operational leadership and leading manufacturing and with a proven track record of strong results in a manufacturing environment
- Machining or machine shop leadership experience preferred
- Have a strong and highly developed business acumen, gained through practical experience and/or a formal MBA or equivalent qualification.
- Proven track record of achieving LEAN, 6-Sigma and continuous improvement goals
- Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
- A highly skilled and confident negotiator, with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Resilient, self-motivated and thrives in a fast paced environment.
PRECITECH designs and manufactures ultra precision machining solutions for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding which are used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components. Our diamond turning machines produce rotationally symmetric, asymmetric, freeform, and sculpted geometries with form tolerances in the sub-micron range and nanometer surface finishes.
