Pay Rate: Position Summary
S/he works as a member of a team committed to the purpose of providing the best patient experience and exceptional health care. As a credentialed member of the medical staff, the Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse works within the scope of an approved practice protocol under the general supervision of a physician who practices at Lakeland Regional Health and with designated administrative oversight. Functions include managing the direct patient care of selected patient populations, utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of assigned patients. Conduct initial assessments, performs procedures as privileged, prepares patients for discharge, complete History and Physical examinations, and Discharge Summaries. Assure timely updates of patient and family care plans. The advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in a focus area, evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring, and change leadership. Functioning in this advanced practice role, the individual is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies while maintaining current professional knowledge and competencies and contributing to the advancement of the practice of nursing at the unit/system, local, state, and/or national level. He/she shares responsibility for all aspects of patient care and team functions. Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
- Manage selected patient populations according to the protocol of treatment established with the supervising physician. Performs history and physical examinations, develops and implements a plan of care. Observes, evaluates, documents, and reports physical and emotional reactions in progress notes. Prepare the patients for discharge, which includes prescriptions, completion of all documentation and follow-up care needed. Reinforce the plan of care with patients, families, and staff members through education and interaction.
- Collaborates with nursing staff as teacher, coach, and mentor to ensure positive patient outcomes. Works with multiple disciplines to benchmark current and future practice; demonstrates skill in visioning, driving innovation, and motivating colleagues. Consult with the interdisciplinary team on clinical issues to achieve optimal patient outcomes utilizing evidenced-based findings and core measures.
- Participate in research via one or more of the following: data synthesis, research utilization, and translation of research into practice and/or generation of new investigations. Demonstrate excellence in critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and effective communication.
- Engage in clinical and professional leadership activities such as nursing shared governance, hospital-based committees, community, regional and/or national organizations, and specialty-based program development; promotes customer service excellence by personal example.
- Promote use of current evidence-based nursing practice necessary for the advancement of patient care and nursing practice. Collaborates with nursing leadership to identify clinical activities to facilitate and mentor growth in professional nursing practice.
- Perform patient procedures and treatments, as credentialed, under the direction of the supervising physician. Facilitate the nursing care of patients through prescription and implementation of advanced clinical practice, education, consultation, and research. Maintains patient comfort, confidentiality, privacy, and ethical decision-making; adheres to HIPAA standards.
- Organize job functions efficiently and manages work assignments in order to effectively complete assignments within established time frames.
- Select and monitors QI indicators that evaluate nursing interventions, nursing practice, and practice changes.
