What you will be responsible for:
We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Construction Superintendent to join our dynamic team. The Construction Superintendent will oversee the full construction process of Aro Homes projects to ensure they are completed on time, on budget, and meet all quality, safety, and building requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of hands-on experience in single-family construction, a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and exceptional leadership and communication skills.
This critical position will also be responsible for building a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency in our site construction operations and for forging strong, collaborative relationships with key internal and external functions.
This role will be 5 days a week on-site with oversight across multiple projects. Travel around the Bay Area Peninsula and South Bay required.
What You'll Do:
Safety and Quality Leadership
- Build a culture of safety and quality and implement and effect safety protocols to grow a safe and healthy work environment.
- Investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence
Budget and Schedule Management
- Collaborate with the project manager, resource manager and project controller to plan and coordinate project activities and timelines.
- Allocate resources across projects and monitor usage, adjusting as necessary to meet project goals
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met.
- Manage project budgets, monitoring expenses and adjusting resources as necessary in collaboration with the project manager
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
- Build strong relationships with the plant and other Aro departments to align field execution with manufacturing schedules, design intent and procurement timelines.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and providing efficient and timely insights into issues and opportunities
- Handle neighbor outreach and daily management to maintain positive relations.
Leadership and Team Management
- Foster an environment of learning by mentoring Foremen and Team Leads, promoting cross-functional collaboration and encouraging feedback loops.
- Establish performance expectations for Foremen and Team Leads and provide feedback to drive their growth and effectiveness
- Manage timesheet approvals for self-perform teams.
- Ensure compliance with all Aro's job site processes and procedures.
- Manage escalations and cross-project risks effectively, ensuring continuity and alignment across projects
Lean Construction and Continuous Improvement
- Utilize and grow Lean construction principles to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.
- Delivery high-quality outputs that push the team forward by ensuring site operations are continuously refined for efficiency, safety and quality.
- Encourage ownership and accountability by empowering teams to take initiative in solving problems and improving processes.
Site Visit and Multi-Project Oversight
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure work is progressing according to plans and specifications.
- Plan and manage mod set logistics, including coordination with crane and rigging teams.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in residential construction.
- 3+ years as a Superintendent with a successful track record.
- OSHA 30 Certification required
- Lean construction experience highly desirable
- Proven experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage on-site teams effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong bias for action.

- Adaptable with a growth mindset and a proactive approach to learning
- Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards.
- Problem-solving abilities to address on-site challenges effectively.
- Advanced understanding of all stages of the homebuilding process including permitting, horizontal construction, vertical construction, quality standards, and construction requirements.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply field installation drawings and floor plans
- Software and digital tool proficiency required to handle job scheduling, project management, costing & communication with vendors & trades.
- Advance work packaging experience is highly desirable
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in construction management or Lean construction are advantageous.
