About the RoleDepartment of International Business, Supply Chain Management & Aviation at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor beginning July 1, 2025. We seek an individual who can contribute meaningfully to the statistics and data analytics program and can provide teaching expertise in that area, including teaching classes currently associated with the program:
- Statistics and Analytics for Business (MGMT 2262)
- Business Statistics for Decision Making (MGMT 2263)
- Data Management and Business Analytics (a newly created course)
- Advanced Analytics (MGMT 4501)
- Business Intelligence (MGMT 4511)
- Applied Analytics - Strategic and Professional Practice (MGMT 5501)
The successful candidate may also have the option of developing and delivering special topics courses in analytics in the future. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their qualifications and interests in the above classes.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member is involved in a research program and is engaged in service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure. Faculty are expected to teach six 3-credit courses per academic year on the TSS pattern or eight 3-credit courses per academic year on the TS pattern. Class sizes typically average between 35-40 students.
This tenure-track faculty position will be hired into a TSS work pattern. This means that the faculty member will be responsible for teaching three 3-credit courses each semester, undertake and deliver on a research plan, and be involved in various service roles.
Responsibilities- Instruction: Delivering courses, including preparation of course outlines, course materials, activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and maintaining the course learning management system.
- Research and scholarship: Executing a program of research within the context of an undergraduate university.
- Administration: Administering final exams, inputting final grades upon course completion, and participating in course-related meetings, as required.
- Service: As needed, coaching student competition teams, mentoring student clubs, assisting with the development of curriculum, and serving on departmental or university committees.
- Community: Liaising with industry partners and external organizations is an important and integral component of our program. The successful candidate may be required to actively engage with industry partners or professional associations on behalf of the Bissett School of Business.

Qualifications- A completed PhD in statistics, data analytics, or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered as long as the defense date is set prior to the start date.
- Teaching experience in statistics, data analytics or in a related field at the postsecondary level and demonstrated proficiency to teach senior-level statistics/data analytics courses. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a business setting.
- An emerging or established program of research.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: data management, data visualization, advanced analytics techniques, knowledge mobilization of analytical findings.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
