Location: Covering the Altamonte Springs Inpatient Unit.
The role you’ll contribute:
The Manager – IPU is responsible for management of the patient care staff and operations in the Inpatient Unit for AdventHealth Hospice. This position is also responsible for the development and implementation of the operating processes, procedures and systems to provide excellent hospice and palliative care.

- Provides management to the IPU to ensure quality patient care in a home-like setting (55%) Develops and implements operating processes, procedures and systems for providing patient care and documenting and charting activities and patient condition and symptom changes. Coordinates and assures a high standard of quality care consistent with each profession on the interdisciplinary team and the IPU mission statement. Manages and assures the quality of patient care and patient safety. Investigates patient care safety issues, determines circumstances and actions taken, and take required action to ensure patient safety and quality of care. Report on results and recommends and take required action to resolve and prevent further issues and problems. Schedules IPU staff, communicates with other managers and ensures that daily staffing logs are maintained. Provides oversight and evaluates all admissions, discharges and transfers for medical compliance and reimbursement qualifications. Manages the medications system in the IPU. Resolves discrepancies related to controlled substances and ensures appropriate level of staff access to computerized prescribing and prescription tracking software. Reviews patient family issues relating to satisfaction. Investigates, documents and resolves issues to ensure satisfaction. Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations for the operations of a hospice inpatient unit, and ensures the IPU are compliant. Maintains CLIA lab compliance.
- Supervisory Responsibilities (25%) Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws, including employment laws. Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Department in accomplishing employee interviewing, hiring, training and coaching functions. Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Department to address complaints and assist in resolving employee relation issues and holds employees accountable for their performance/behaviors as necessary. Plans, assigns and directs work of directly supervised staff. Rewards employees appropriately and evaluates performance in a timely manner using the employee evaluation forms instituted by Hospice of the Comforter. Oversees and ensures that the required AdventHealth Hospice orientation and training and applicable on the job training is completed by staff.
- Additional Duties and Responsibilities (15%) Participates in staff meetings, department meetings, in services and other related activities. Attends educational and developmental seminars and meetings, as deemed appropriate. Recommends strategic plans on department goal setting for upcoming year. Participates as a member of strategic plan subcommittee(s) dependent upon plan requirements. Maintains membership of and participates in applicable hospice-related and professional organizations. Recommends and implements the fiscal budget of assigned department. Monitors budget, investigates variances, and reports on findings. Participates in infection control, discharge planning, utilization review, case management, and quality assessment activities and analysis. Facilitates patient care and quality management activities by assuring staff participation and IPU representation on selected committees; follows up on surveys and quality service issues; oversees medical record and utilization review audits.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
Minimum qualifications:
- Associate's of Nursing
- 5 years of skilled Registered Nursing experience including, inpatient unit, hospice and/or home health care nursing experience.
- Certified Hospice And Palliative Nurse
- Satisfactory completion of background screening or other consumer reports, when applicable in compliance with AdventHealth policy and AHCA regulations.
- Satisfactory compliance of AdventHealth Hospice Care’s drug free workplace policy
- Participate in appropriate continuing education and training as required by supervisor.
- Active American Heart Association BLS
- Registered Nurse – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure In Florida
- Valid in state Driver’s License with current car insurance
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Nursing
- 3 years supervisory experience
