About the position:
As a Senior Product Development Engineer on the Engineering team, you will be involved in developing and enhancing our product portfolio, ensuring that our products meet and exceed industry standards and customer expectations. This role will support our mission to design and develop cutting-edge products that improve the lives of our customers and will contribute to the creation of innovative solutions in the field of mobile living.
The Senior Product Develpment Engineer plays a key role in the development and enhancement of our product portfolio, ensuring that our products meet and exceed industry standards and customer expectations. This role will support our mission to design and develop cutting-edge products that improve the lives of our customers and will contribute to the creation of innovative solutions in the field of mobile living.
Your main responsibilities
Product Development: Lead and manage the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to production, to develop cutting-edge and innovative products within the segment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless execution of product development plans. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to drive innovation.
Design and Prototyping: Analyze existing product designs and propose improvements to enhance functionality, connectivity, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Provide technical guidance and expertise as needed.
Testing and Validation: Lead in designing and conducting product tests to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards. Analyze test results and provide recommendations for improvements. Develops strategies for samples for testing and schedule attainment. Knows how to navigate procedural requirements of DVP, PPAP, etc., and competing requirements of schedule, cost, etc.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of design specifications, test plans, and project progress. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products.
Cost Analysis: Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses to guide decision-making processes.
Quality Assurance: Assist and support the development and implementation of quality control processes to ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Work closely with external suppliers and partners to source materials and components, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and lead opportunities for process improvement and innovation, contributing to the company's culture of continuous learning and development.
Problem Solving: Defines the data that is needed to solve complex problems; sees data as a means to validate or solve a problem; defines unique ways to develop data-driven solutions and is able to communicate the data to both technical and non-technical audiences. Able to lead a structured problem-solving project using advanced skills (e.g. 6 Sigma; Shanin Red X, Kepner Tregoe); Leads engineering teams in structured problem solving.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing, to ensure the successful launch.
Mentoring: Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers within the organization.
Performs other duties as assigned.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within Product Design and Development - as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Significant and proven experience in product development engineering, including design, with a focus on consumer goods or mobile lifestyle products. Preference for individuals with experience working in a global environment and a background in HVAC.
• Demonstrated prior strong problem-solving skills and a passion for product design and development.
• Strong proficiency in relevant engineering tools (i.e. CAD, connectivity, software development, etc.).
• Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful product launches.
