We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher/Chef for our summer camp program at Poway Community Park. This role is perfect for someone who loves to cook, can read and follow recipes, and enjoys working with children ages 6 through 17. This position requires the ability to adapt recipes for different group sizes and provide a fun, hands-on cooking experience for our campers.
Responsibilities
• Read and follow recipes accurately.
• Adapt recipes according to the number of kids in the program.
• Facilitate morning and afternoon cooking sessions.
• Set up the classroom kitchen daily and ensure all equipment and materials are put away after use.
• Work closely with an aid to manage the classroom and assist with cooking activities.
• Provide opportunities for kids to create fun and healthy food to eat and take home any leftovers.
• Utilize the kitchen ovens as needed for recipes that require baking.
• Ensure a safe and clean working environment in the classroom and kitchen area.
• Supervise and engage with children, helping them learn cooking skills in a fun environment.
• Lift up to 20 lbs of equipment, food, and tools as needed.
Qualifications
• Passion for cooking and working with children.
• Experience in a teaching and/or culinary role is preferred.
• Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt recipes and manage a classroom efficiently.
