FOH Daytime Barista/Server 2-4 shifts ***Must Have Weekend Availability***
Lemon Poppy is seeking experienced barista / servers for our bustling brunch cafe that has become a neighborhood fixture. We've been a hub of the Glassell Park community since 2012, and over the years has evolved from a hole in the wall strip mall joint serving mom & pop breakfast favorites to a full fledged brunch restaurant with a unique menu.
We have recently remodeled our entire indoor and outdoor space, added beer and wine, upgraded our espresso and pastry service. We are looking for experienced staff who are excited to represent the unique cuisine and drink offerings.
You’ll be on the front lines of a super friendly neighborhood cafe interacting with great staff, customers and neighbors. Currently considering 2-4 shifts, but must be available weekends.
Successful candidate:
Has experience in front of house service at a busy establishment
Has strong barista experience
Has table service experience
Enjoys working as part of a team, communication and flexibility are key
Interested in learning new things and especially our menu
Is passionate about food and beverage service
Loves maintaining a clean and beautiful space
Is respectful and kind to our team members and customers
Proactively addresses issues
-coordinate with the team if you see items running low, or any area falling behind
-don’t run from the unhappy table, see what we can do
Remains calm under pressure and focused on work and communication
Performs physically – lift, bend, clean, stock
ServSafe, RBS, CA Sexual Harassment Prevention certified or will be shortly
Speaks Spanish big plus
General Front of House Server duties:
Greet and direct diners as they come in - sit for table service, order at the counter for take out
Take orders – learn the menu (food, drink, pastry) and be able to answer questions, recommend dishes, address special dietary needs
Serve drinks – beer, wine, spritzers, teas, lemonades, espresso
Serve food – make sure orders are correct and customers happy
Coordinate with kitchen regarding special requests and availability of dishes
Check-in with your table, additional order items, pre bus
Manage take out orders
Clean space – tables, counters, service areas, at all times
Update prep list and order list as we use stocks during the day
Pay attention to the prep list and coordinate with team to make sure it gets done
Manage time to accomplish customer service, breaks, prep, and cleaning during shift
Help on special projects as needed
