Duties and Responsibilities
Proposal Writing
- Mapping of aid agencies, trusts, lotteries, foundations, and UN agencies' funding.
- Conceptualisation, visualisation and iterative challenging of new project ideas.
- Design local and international projects.
- Consortium-building and partners’ recruitment for projects and funding applications.
- Writing project and funding proposals, including outcomes, impact, deliverables and planning.
- Responsible for designing project budgets, including budget lines and allocations
- Submission of project and funding proposals.
Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, public health, medicine, sociology, psychology, environmental science, agriculture, engineering, biological sciences, marketing, biology, sciences, climate change, health and social care, dentistry, pharmacy, social media, journalism, criminology, geography, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, economics, or a related field. A Master's degree or doctorate is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of International Development Aid Agencies' policies and decisions about health, water and sanitation, education, gender affairs, economic and social issues, technology and innovation, environment and natural resources, climate change, agriculture and rural development, migration, conflict, humanitarian, culture, territorial cooperation, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), etc, in Africa.
- Responsibility, consistency and adherence to strict deadlines.
- Proven track record in drafting and implementing local, national, regional and internationally funded projects.
- Intercultural awareness, sensitivity, and love for Africa, its people, culture and development.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and work on own initiative.
- A drive to achieve quality in all aspects of the role
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English
- Fluency in a development aid agency's country language, such as French, Spanish, Italian, German, Swedish, Danish, Russian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Farsi, Czechia, Polish, Portuguese, Luxembourgish, Irish, Finnish, Danish, Norwegian
Technological Awareness:
- Fluency in office software, email, web-based applications and databases.
- Command of social media.
- Actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks.
