Job Overview
San Francisco Hospitality Brand, Banjara life, is seeking a motivated, service-driven Bartender Server for two of our outlets: Zingari Ristorante and Ula Restaurant. We are looking for someone who truly believes and demonstrates the importance of providing impeccable service. The server is responsible for providing efficient service to all guests in accordance with our restaurant standards, while maintaining its reputation, efficiency, and profitably. They must coordinate a variety of activities. The server is responsible for the business performance of the restaurant, as well as maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety. This role will focus on day-to-day management activities. This role will have creative aspects, particularly in collaborating with the General Manager on guest experience development. This is an entrepreneurial and important role. Hospitality management is fast-paced, highly demanding and very rewarding. We truly believe Hospitality is the best job in the world!
Typical work activities and expectations:
Front-of-house
• Coordinating the entire operation of the restaurant during scheduled shifts.
• Collaborating with staff and providing them with feedback.
• Responding to customer complaints.
• Ensuring that all colleagues adhere to the company's uniform standards.
• Meeting and greeting customers while managing bar and table reservations.
• Advising customers on menu and wine choice.
• Recruiting, training and motivating staff.
• Collaborating with waiting and cleaning staff.
Qualification and Expectations
• 5+ years experience in a fine dining restaurant or bar;
• Must have a valid Responsible Beverage Service certificate and Food Handler card or be willing to get it;
• High standards for quality and customer service;
• Courteous, friendly and professional;
• Good team player and understanding of big picture;
• Positive sense of humor around team building and collaboration;
• Be able to multitask to work, overseeing many activities at once;
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time;
• Must be able to work late evenings and weekends. Public holidays and shift work, including split shifts, which is also common. Overtime may be essential and it is important to be willing to work until the job is completed, whatever time that may be;
• Must be able to work at least 1 lunch shift per week;
• Must understand schedule based on business demand from transient guests, conferences, group events, private dining, and holidays;
• Service Knowledge and Standards;
• All Servers are expected to perform according to restaurant standards after the training period (5 days) and demonstrate expected knowledge of food, beverages, and service.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 25lbs
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Qualification Standards
Education: High school graduate or equivalent education preferred
Experience: Over 5 years previous experience in a similar position preferred
Licenses or Certificates
ServSafe Food Handler Certification is a prerequisite for this role.
California Responsible Beverage Service Training & Certification is a prerequisite for this role.
