Position Overview:
We are looking for a self-starter with Visual Merchandising experience to build out a Visual Merchandising Strategy and execute that strategy across our fleet of new stores. As the Director of Visual Merchandising, you will be an integral part of our new store team. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and executing visual merchandising strategies for our new store formats that align with our brand identity and drive sales. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create impactful permanent in-store fixtures and displays that captivate our Clients and enhance their shopping experience. You will also be responsible for overseeing new store layouts, adjacencies, and developing and maintaining planograms.
The leader of this team will oversee two primary functions for our Bluemercury stores; Planogramming/Floorplanning and Visual Merchandising Strategy & Design.
Planogramming/Floorplanning
- Manage current and New Store Planograms/Assortments/Floorplans.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team, planning, visual merchandising, 3rd party planogramming agency to lay out plan product assortments, and seasonal displays for new stores in 2024 and 2 existing stores.
- Work to translate the assortment and layout information into planogramming system.
- Provide the information needed from planograms to facilitate the creative submission process for all related graphics for the associated planograms.
- Manage the new product innovation process. Work with merchandising teams, planning, and other cross-functional partners to update planograms monthly with new product innovation and coordinate discontinued product removal.
- Conduct large-scale updates to stores multiple times through the year.
- Work with partners to monitor and track the performance of planograms through sales metrics, inventory turnover rates, and customer feedback, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, merchandising, store operations, planning, and training, to configure, test, and deploy a new planogram system, addressing any issues, user feedback, or system enhancements as needed.
Visual Merchandising Strategy & Design
- Develop and implement a comprehensive visual merchandising strategy that supports the overall brand and business objectives for our new stores.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to ensure our visual merchandising remains cutting-edge and relevant.
- Drive innovation in visual merchandising techniques and displays to create unique and memorable Client experiences.
- Experiment with new technologies and tools to enhance the visual appeal of our products in our new stores.
- Oversee the design and layout of store interiors, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing presentation that maximizes product visibility and enhances the shopping experience.
Other Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the CAPEX visual merchandising budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Evaluate the return on investment for new store visual merchandising initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the visual merchandising team, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of visual merchandising initiatives and planograms/floorplans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree welcome.
- 10+ years of experience in a senior visual merchandising role, preferably in beauty or luxury retail
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for design and aesthetics.
- Excellent understanding of retail trends and consumer behavior.
- Budget management experience.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for visual merchandising such as Blue Yonder/Spaceman.
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills
- Project management acumen to quickly work with various stakeholders and manage multiple internal contributors and the ability to cultivate strong relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with various levels in the organization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Results-oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and ability to provide strategic planning direction and identify growth opportunities.
- Capable of independently managing multiple projects, timelines, priorities, and expectations concurrently
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
