Join Our Board
We are looking for passionate people to join our Board of Directors, that are ready to help guide our organization into a bright and sustainable future. As a board member, you will play a critical role in shaping our strategic direction, ensuring that we continue to innovate and inspire while staying true to our mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help steer alt_Chicago by contributing to strategic oversight and decision-making.
- Use your unique skills and networks to broaden our impact, bringing new opportunities and partners to our cause.
- Provide prudent financial management and oversight to ensure we continue to thrive and grow.
- Be an ambassador for alt_Chicago, advocating for our work and values in the wider community.
- Engage deeply in bi-monthly board meetings, with a willingness to increase frequency if needed for robust governance.
Expectations/Commitment:
- Dedicate approximately 5-10 hours per month to board duties.
- Give/Get: Individually contribute or facilitate $2,500 in donations (inclusive of In Kind Donations) annually.
Note: We value equitable access and community focus. To ensure participation of all voices, two board member seats are exempt from this give/get requirement. We understand that potential board members bring a variety of skills and abilities, and are flexible. Please do not let the give/get commitment deter you from applying.

- Finance: Background in financial services, budgeting, and financial planning.
- Fundraising: Well-connected individuals with strong networks for securing financial support.
- Education: Expertise in curriculum creation, youth development, and teaching pedagogy.
- Non Profit Management: Experience running a nonprofit or business, with a focus on mentoring leadership teams.
