Volunteer, Donor Gift and Data Processing
Location: Virtual, anywhere in the US
Time Commitment: 10 to 20 hours per week, August 1, 2024 through January 15, 2025 (or longer, if there’s continued need and/or interest)
Position Overview:
Room to Read’s Fundraising/Development Operations team is seeking a volunteer to provide general administrative support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is not only interested in supporting our fundraising processes but also interested in data integrity and Salesforce administration. This position will be virtual and will be primarily focused on support through Quarter 4 of the fiscal year. The position will require a time commitment of 10-20 hours a week from August 1, 2024 through mid-January 2025.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support offline donor gift processing for North America, entering data in fundraising software (Salesforce NPSP), and creating and issuing receipts.
- Collaborate with global team members on projects related to the database, such as data cleanup projects, supporting with setting up new ways of working, and data preparation.
- Respond to donor calls and emails related to fundraising and gift acknowledgements and connecting with global team members as needed.
- Run Watchdog (background check) reports and support on due diligence to support compliance work within our gift acceptance policy.
- Assist with research projects and ongoing requests as needed.
- Other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and results oriented
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English with the ability to adjust communication style based on the audience
- Adept at using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience with databases and ability to continually learn new technology, database processes and procedures as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple priorities with competing deadlines
- Flexibility and positive attitude
Preferred
- Completed or in progress Bachelor’s degree, or relevant work experience
- History of dedicated volunteer activity and/or commitment to non-profit organizations
- Previous experience working with relational databases and/or web integration tools
