Friends of the British Overseas Territories is now recruiting a volunteer Communications Assistant to join the FOTBOT Management Committee and our internal Communications Team.
You will work in a fast-paced team within the charity tasked with communications across our website, various social media channels, media engagement and newsletters, and will be assisting the team in ensuring that our messaging is consistent, engaging and reaches a wide audience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to promote both the work of the charity and updates from the UK’s Overseas Territories, with the position requiring creativity, strategic thinking and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
The Communications Assistant will:
- Research and draft news articles of interest from across the Overseas Territories (primary focus).
- Research and draft social media copy.
- Work with the rest of the Communications Team and wider charity to devise and implement our communications strategy.
- Complete other ad hoc tasks when required in support of the rest of the Communications Team.
The successful candidate will:
- Be able to efficiently gather and synthesise information from various sources.
- Be able to draft clear, engaging and accurate news articles and social media posts.
- Be able to work effectively with other members of the Communications Team and wider Management Committee.
- Be flexible and able to handle a variety of tasks, adjusting priorities as needed and meeting deadlines.
- Have an excellent command of the English language to ensure accurate and high quality communications.
