The ideal
Maintenance Manager will have a minimum of five years hands on experience as a Plant Maintenance/Engineering Manager in a food production environment with strong technical knowledge with ability to troubleshoot electrical, boilers, ammonia refrigeration, air compressors, pumps, separators, and other dairy equipment. Strong leadership and mentoring experience.
Minimum three years supervising work of others. Minimum of five years experience in a production setting involving maintenance of dairy equipment, electronics, instrumentation, refrigeration, electrical, and general mechanical equipment.
Oversees facility maintenance and engineering team by ensuring facility and plant are in good operating order. Facilitates the care and maintenance of all steam, electrical, refrigeration and mechanical equipment, including the use of welding, gas, and electrical equipment in the plant. Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, safety policies and procedures, production needs and environmental compliance programs such as CalARP.
- Directs and managers the activities of the maintenance staff for facility and property upkeep, repairs, preventative maintenance, stormwater requirements and other projects.
- Maintain a routine inspection and maintenance schedule for all fluid products processing machines, belt, and chain driven systems, and refrigeration units.
- Provide departmental new hire, safety and refresher training to employees.
- Maintain business records, inventory, blueprints, technical manuals as necessary.
- Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production equipment, including but not limited to: pumps, pasteurizers, homogenizers, valves, baggers, and all other dairy related equipment.
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all support equipment, including but not limited to: boiler, air-compressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, conductivity meters, water meters, etc.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is constantly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop. The employee occasionally must push, pull; lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
