Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Coordinator, Gender Affirming Surgery Program.
In this role, the successful candidate Provides clinical leadership and coordination for a patient care population or program consistent with the philosophy and goals of the institution, departments of nursing, and clinical service; directs, prioritizes and coordinates patient care activities, quality and performance improvement initiatives, and development and education of staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Promotes patient, physician and other consumer satisfaction by facilitating excellent customer service by all members of the health care team.
- Serves as a support and resource for the education of health care providers as may occur during the units hours of operation.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to support the unit-based, service, or program quality and performance improvement program consistent with the service, departmental, and program plan.
- Develops and implements action plans and identifies new opportunities for improvement.
- Fosters an environment that promotes patient/family, physician and staff satisfaction, and excellent clinical patient outcomes.
- Maintains awareness of research protocols applicable to unit, ensures knowledge of staff, protects rights of patients, and participates in assessment/evaluation of outcomes.
- Participates in and fosters staff involvement in evidence based practice and other nursing research efforts.
- Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of all aspects of nursing.
- Collects, analyzes and uses data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, and patient experience and productivity metrics for excellent patient and nursing outcomes.
- Collaborates with the Director of Nursing, Administration, and Nurse Educator in identifying, addressing, and utilizing available resources to meet the learning needs of professional and ancillary staff members.
- Develops the unit, department or program milieu supportive of education and development of the nursing staff and other health care providers, consistent with the goals of a learning organization.
- Facilitates attendance and participation by staff in educational offerings.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of education and development activities in achieving desired outcomes.
- Promotes own professional development plan to improve and sustain clinical and leadership competency.
- Provides clinical leadership by assessing, implementing and evaluating the care provided to patients and families in the designated unit, department, or program.
- Provides direct patient care as needed to support the clinical operations of the unit, department, or program.
- Demonstrates awareness and recognition of the clinical plan of care during the units hours of operation.
- Ensures and participates in providing ongoing patient/family education consistent with the individual needs of the patient/family.
- Assists in facilitating a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to achieve optimal patient care outcome.
- Serve as role model for staff in considering needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultures.
- Participates in the development, promulgation, and implementation of process standards for the delivery of patient care relevant to area of practice.
- Maintains scheduling and staffing for optimal availability of resources for safe, competent and effective patient care delivery.
- Provides leadership for coordination of unit or program activity, serving as a role model and resource during hours of operation.
- Facilitates an environment conducive to creativity in practice, collaboration with all members of the health team, and the fostering of collegial relationships.
- Communicates significant patient care issues, family concerns, safety and critical events to seeking consultation and assistance when necessary. Identifies, initiates investigation and proactively responds on an immediate basis to potential and actual risk management issues per standards and institutional policies.
- Provides formal review of performance standards of staff assigned to the unit, department, or program. Guides, develops, and councils staff regarding practice and performance standards. Participates in interviewing and selecting staff for the unit or clinical service.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Baccalaureate degree in nursing required. A minimum of four years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population served; Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion which addresses patient/family satisfaction; Demonstrates the potential for leadership; demonstrates ability to develop, guide, motivate, nurture, and coach others; participates in service or departmental committees, staff and/or patient education programs. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving; Membership in pertinent professional organizations; Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities..
Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
Senior Nurse Clinician level preferred. Certification in relevant practice area preferred. Masters degree in nursing or related field preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $94,323.65 - $143,100.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
