Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager of Unix Engineering.
In this role, the successful candidate Manager of Unix Engineering (New York, NY)
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the Unix platform technologies currently in use and the business use cases that they serve; identify white spaces in them and evaluate how they can be mitigated
- Continuously improve UNIX platforms to develop a roadmap for a collaborative scalable organization
- Evaluate the UNIX platform services technologies market, analyze the impact on employee production and regularly evolve roadmaps for these UNIX platforms
- Formulate strategies on how UNIX platforms can improve employee satisfaction and productivity
- Identify how public cloud providers can simplify, improve, automate or lessen ongoing operational costs
- Define and deliver strategies and solutions for UNIX platforms transformation, including the vision, roadmap and governance model
- Implement an overarching Unix strategy, and framework rein in emerging technologies, optimize capital and operating costs and provide new and enhanced customer experiences for employees and clients
- Provide the rapid integration of emerging technologies and innovation, allowing our internal/external applications to access their data securely anywhere and anytime
- Leverage public or private cloud or hybrid services appropriately to gain efficiencies and drive to building a single pane of glass to manage the UNIX platform technology
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors in computer science
Prior experience must include:
5 yrs progressive exp w/distributed systems technologies including server, storage, enterprise monitoring tools architecture
5 yrs progressive exp w/managing multiple projects and initiatives
5 yrs exp w/managing industry vendor relationships
5 yrs exp w/translating complex technical information and implications into business-oriented language
5 yrs exp w/developing architecture review board governance structure
5 yrs exp w/applications and hardware including AIX, VIO, HACMP, Linux, VMWare, TSM, Solaris, IBM P-Series
3 yrs exp w/supporting IT operating and capital budgets in excess of $1M
3 yrs exp w/managing a team of 4+ staff
* Progressive experience is demonstrated by advancement toward increasingly complex or responsible duties.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $162,649.75 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
