DescriptionThe Senior System Engineer (SSE) will be responsible for enhancing the IT infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, performance and security within the Safe Harbor Marinas environment. The SSE will be an integral part in the design and implementation of complex systems, mentor junior engineers and in driving initiatives that will optimize system performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- System Design and Implementation: Deploy, and configure complex systems and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and technical requirements.
- Virtualization Technologies: Implement and manage virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to maximize resource utilization, improve system availability, and streamline operations.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying and addressing areas for improvement to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability, using tools such as What's Up Gold.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide advanced technical support for system issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems quickly and effectively.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems and data, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, as it relates to server environments and virtualization technologies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and best practices. Prepare and present reports on system performance and issues.
- Mentorship: Guide and support junior systems engineers, sharing expertise and fostering their professional development.
- Project Management: Lead or contribute to system-related projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions on time, within scope and on budget.
Technical and Physical Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or comparable experience.
- Experience with PowerShell.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- 7+ Years experience in system engineering or hardware support.
- Will be required to work under desks or in tight locations.
- Will be required to move boxes weighting up to 20 pounds across offices for various needs.
- Will be working in outdoor working positions.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities- Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
