Summary:
The Manager Individual & Community Engagement will be a key member of the Development and Communications team, specifically focused on individual, corporate, and community giving. The Manager will provide critical administrative, project management, portfolio and donor management, and research support. They will serve as a knowledgeable generalist on the Development team, with an ability to efficiently, professionally, and impactfully navigate complex donor situations and high-level assignments. The Manager Individual & Community Engagement will report to the VP Individual & Community Engagement and will work closely with Safe Horizon’s Chief Development and Communications Officer, other members of the Development and Communications team, as well as a wide variety of colleagues across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the VP Individual and Community Engagement on comprehensive account management for major and principal donors, ensuring that individuals have a meaningful and high-quality donor experience. Key tasks will include but are not limited to: timely data entry and maintenance (meeting/call notes, task tracking, updating proposal/moves management records, donor information and research updates, etc.); crafting tailored donor communications; coordinating stewardship reports (narrative and financial); and supporting on portfolio and prospect analytics.
- Support the Chief Development and Communications Officer on Board giving, engagement and activity tracking in Salesforce.
- Support the Director Individual Philanthropy with needs related to their major gifts portfolio, moves management, and stewardship.
- Serve as primary manager of the weekly CEO meeting, ensuring that the Individual and Community Engagement team is coordinated on action items to review.
- Support discrete projects related to prospect research and corporate giving.
- Provide regular support on donor engagement events.
- Liaise with Development Operations team to ensure accurate gift recording and acknowledgement letter management.
- Via guidance from the External Communications team, track and maintain database records of relationships with celebrities, influencers, and other notable public ambassadors/figures.
Qualifications:
- Genuine appreciation for Safe Horizon’s mission.
- 3-4+ years of relevant nonprofit experience, with a preference for 1-2+ years in fundraising.
- Proven track record of successful project management.
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and experience engaging diverse demographic groups.
- Creative, entrepreneurial spirit.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Exceptional judgment and integrity.
- Understanding of Salesforce and/or other relevant data management systems.
