The Automotive service manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the service department in a dealership. Their primary role is to ensure that the service department runs efficiently and provides excellent customer service. Responsible for managing the overall operations of the service department, focusing on customer satisfaction, team management, workflow optimization, financial performance, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and leading a team of service advisors, technicians, and support staff. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure the team performs at its best.
- Ensure customer satisfaction; interact with customers, address their concerns, and strive to resolve any issues promptly. Handle escalated customer complaints and ensure that customer service standards are upheld.
- Maintaining stores CSI above the regional average and achieving all service retention objectives set by the factory, dealer principle and/or general manager.
- Optimize the workflow in the service department; plan and schedule appointments, allocate work to technicians, and ensure that repairs and maintenance tasks are completed within the agreed timelines.
- Ensures that all repairs and maintenance work meet high-quality standards. Implement quality control measures, conduct inspections, and review completed jobs to verify the accuracy and quality of the work performed.
- Managing the department's financial performance. Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Ensure that the service department operates in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards. Oversee safety training programs, implement safety protocols, and ensure that the workplace is safe for employees and customers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic equipment, software systems and factory trainings. Evaluate and implement new systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer experience.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of Automotive Service Manager experience
- Reynolds & Reynolds experience preferred
- Strong communication, supervisory, and managerial skills
- Ability to operate the department at a profit according to dealership guidelines
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic presence in a team environment
- Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record
- General Motors experience a plus
