Basic Functions
The teacher aide assists school personnel in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The teacher aide is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The teacher aide agrees to abide by the established policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago, as well as the policies and procedures of the local school. The principal will determine the specific assignment of the school aide. The teacher aide cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
St. Viator Elementary Support Staff and Teacher’s Aide Support Staff assist the administrator of a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago and are responsible for the supervision of students in the extended school day (morning) program that runs from 6:45am - 7:50am, teacher’s aide from 8:00am-10:50am, and lunch monitoring from 11:20 am - 1:15 pm Monday through Friday when school is in session.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the school aide will include but are not limited to:
1. Accepting the position-related responsibilities and duties assigned by the principal.
2. Following established procedures to ensure the safety and welfare of the students.
3. Maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding school and classroom matters.
4. Attending faculty and staff meetings when required by the principal.
The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position.
