Provides prompt claim investigation, evaluation and settlement or denial of claims with minor to severe exposures. Provides empathy and understanding and explains policy coverages and claims processes to customers. Authorizes payments in accordance with assigned authority limit. Documents claim files with all pertinent information and disposition. Responsible for handling claims having moderately complex negligence, compensability, damage and coverage issues, such as bodily injury. May include handling low complexity litigation in some claims niches.
This position will report to Sentry's Davenport, IA or Stevens Point, WI - Division Street Office.
What You’ll Do:
Our Claims Representatives ensure the delivery of quality claim service to our customers and other parties to a claim while protecting the assets of Sentry. You'll do this by:
Verifying that coverage exists and Investigating and gathering information about injuries that happen during an auto accident
Determining qualification for benefits
Responding to pre-suit demands
Documenting all decisions, correspondences, reports and discussions
Assisting with litigation support including depositions and interrogatories
What it Takes:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
1 or more years of related work experience
Knowledge of insurance policies and coverage, claim payment procedures, and familiarity with medical terminology
Able to make sound decisions while using good judgment in evaluating claims
Able to review and interpret complex and detailed documents such as contracts, medical reports and insurance regulations
Effective oral and written communication skills
Able to maintain confidential information
Personal computer and math skill beneficial
Ability to pass the required coursework applicable to the job duties
