Work Shifts9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.MJob DescriptionPURPOSE OF POSITION: Under the supervision and delegation from the Director of Pharmacy and / or supervisor, this position encompasses professional, clinical and clerical work of varying degrees with latitude for independent initiative and judgment.
MAJOR DUTIES:1. Be proficient in Outpatient and Inpatient computerized system
2. Knowledgeable of Federal, State and local laws concerning the filling and dispensing of medications and orders.
3. Interpret, fill and dispense prescriptions and prescriber orders.
4. Have the skills and knowledge to provide Patient counseling and education to outpatient and discharge patients
5. Able to Compound and manufacture prescriptions and orders.
6. Has the knowledge to review drug-drug, drug-food and drug-lab interactions.
7. To be able to fill unit dose cassettes and manage the medication cart fill process
8. Review and Profile drug orders.
9. Suggest and Intervene on Problematic Drug Orders.
10. Skills and knowledge to prepare sterile IV drugs for adults, pediatric, and neonate patients.
11. Fill, replenish and deliver and exchange cassettes, C-Locker Carts, Emergency Boxes and Code Cart Trays, etc.
12. Able to communicate well with other health professionals.
13. Has the Knowledge to provide up-to-date drug information.
14. Able to package and label pharmaceuticals into unit of use or unit dose blisters.
15. Assist in maintaining accurate and complete records and statistics of departmental activities.
16. Assist in monthly inspection of patient care units and pharmacy.
17. Assist in replenishing drug bins and shelves and keeping the pharmacy in a neat and orderly fashion.
18. Perform all pharmacy related functions such as managing and trouble-shooting the Automatic Dispensing Cabinet (PYXIS).
Minimum QualificationsPossession of a valid NY State license to practice pharmacy.
