Job Summary
The TeamJoin our established Audit Team where you'll be part of a dedicated group of nine professionals committed to providing essential oversight and assurance on subcontracted services for the Ministry. The RoleThe Senior Auditor role involves conducting audits and financial reviews that provide critical oversight of agency performance and verify the responsible use of Ministry funding. This position has a direct impact on BC's children and families by ensuring financial transparency and accountability within the organizations serving them. With a focus on precision, integrity, and adaptability in a dynamic environment, the Senior Auditor will play an essential part in supporting fair, accurate reporting. The role also requires travel within BC to conduct on-site audits, underscoring the commitment to hands-on, thorough reviews of agency operations.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Professional Accounting Designation CPA, ACCA, or CA from a recognized accounting association.
- Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through CPA Canada in order to be considered.
- Minimum two (2) years of audit experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in reviewing and analysing financial statements.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in conducting risk assessment to identify key risk areas of entities.
- Possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants:
- Who have a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation, in good standing.
- With experience in contract compliance audits and/or use of funds audits.
- With experience working with indigenous groups or organizations.
- With experience organizing large databases into meaningful information using excel.
- Who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
Willingness statement:
- Position required to travel within the Province of BC to conduct audit fieldwork at the agencies' sites.

This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Child and Family Development offices: Campbell River, Cranbrook, Nanaimo, Nelson, Prince George, Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Surrey, Port Moody, Williams Lake, Burnaby or Duncan.
This is a permanent opportunity.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill current and future permanent vacancies.
