NEIWPCC is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst to support monitoring work at the Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve. This position will conduct long-term research and monitoring on estuary habitats in field and the laboratory settings.
Job Duties:
- Maintenance, deployment, and retrieval of water quality instrumentation.
- Collection, processing, and analysis of water samples, as well as identification and quantification of submerged aquatic vegetation
- Operation of weather stations and deployment of tide gauges.
- Performing wet chemistry to analyze water quality samples for nutrients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven ability to work in the field and the laboratory is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and competency with managing large data sets.
- Experience operating off-road vehicles and boats is preferred.
Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent.
Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000. NEIWPCC offers an outstanding comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.

Position Logistics:
This full-time NEIWPCC position will work 7.5 hours per day and is based out of Norrie Point Environmental Center in Staatsburg, NY. Duties will be performed in office, lab and field settings with substantial travel throughout the Hudson River Estuary to field sites, some of which are remote, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation are required. The ability to physically navigate natural and aquatic environments and lift up to 50lbs would be required.
