What We Offer The Principal Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA) Engineer is responsible for evaluating alternatives and developing the scope of projects for various strategic partners, in a professional, cost and time efficient manner. In this role, you will write and execute project proposals and communicate project results to the Covestro CSA Leads and Project Managers. The engineer performs assignments in one or more of the CSA engineering specialties. You will also coordinate the work of the CSA Designers assigned to specific projects/tasks. Assignments involve the application of established principles to offer engineering solutions to revamp projects. There is also the opportunity to initiate optimization / improvement opportunities in their area of responsibility.
Major Responsibilities - Support projects for the various Covestro businesses entities.
- Supervise CSA designers assigned to projects/tasks.
- Identify and/or respond to requests from Plant Operations personnel and Project Managers.
- Propose solutions to engineering design related problems.
- Responsible for scope definition/control for plant modifications, small to XL-size projects as appropriate, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Ensure timely completion of assignments within priorities established by the CSA Team and Project Managers.
What You Offer Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering and at least 8 years of related experience in chemical, oil & gas or process industries OR;
- Master's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering and at least 6 years of related experience in chemical, oil & gas or process industries
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
Preferred Qualifications - Construction administration experience
Knowledge & Skills: - Excellent knowledge of industry codes and standards.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, S3D, Smartsketch and SPR is preferred.
- Ability to perform field work, basic surveying, and inspection work in process areas.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines is a must for this position.
