ResponsibilitiesAs a surgical services nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.
Every day you will go over consent forms answer questions about the procedure do preoperative assessments make sure the equipment is ready to go and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.
As a surgical services nurse with us you are expected to apply your surgical nursing knowledge and skills in the operating room and it doesn't stop there. Most patients never realize the part you played in getting them through one of their most vulnerable moments. Honoring your commitment to care for others is thanks enough. Our leadership is visible and the hospital is expanding its services. Call is required and is based on shift and patient volume. Our surgical department consists of 8 operating rooms with a designated cardiac and urology suite. The OR suites are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting tables and equipment. While all service lines are supported hearts vascular major ortho and neuro spine are the most prominent. The recent addition of the DaVinci Xi will allow this surgery department to provide a high level of care. This collaborative department supports learning and professional growth. Responsibilities- Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
- Care for patients before during and after procedures
- Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
- Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
- Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients
Qualifications- Minimum requirement of 6 months of prior acute care experience in Surgical Services.
- Open heart surgery strongly preferred.
- BLS and ACLS required.
- Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
