Overview:The CHAM ED is recruiting a full time Nurse Practitioner to deliver exceptional care to our patients. The CHAM ED cares for children with a variety of medical, surgical, psychosocial, and behavioral health complaints. This associate is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and will care for children with a variety of medical, surgical, psychosocial, and behavioral complaints. The NP works in collaboration with the attending physician(s) in accordance with state law and hospital regulations, hospital policy, protocols and clinical pathways and may provide autonomous team based care. The NP will be responsible for obtaining medical histories, perform physical examinations, reviews/orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, formulate and manage patient treatment plans. The NP will perform procedures, and prescribe treatment and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines, within scope of specialty or professional competency standards. Additionally, the NP will be responsible for working with our follow-up program which ensures follow-up of lab and imaging results that are pending upon discharge along with ensuring coordination of additional follow-up care if needed. Other clinical duties may be assigned in accordance with departmental and operational needs. The NP is expected to demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
Requirements:• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including the attending physician to develop and implement the therapeutic plan of care for a group of patients and ensure communication with family members.
• Provide consultation about the therapeutic regimen to the nursing staff responsible for the patient's care in the hospital setting.
• Participate in designated activities related to advanced practice professional standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies.
• Perform complete health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment of patients within the designated practice or clinical unit.
• Order customary laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies per practice protocols, differentiates between normal/abnormal findings and follows protocols for abnormal findings, which may include referral to consulting physicians per customary pattern of the attending MD or with the collaborating physician.
• Formulate the plan of care with the patient and family, based on expected goals which may include referral to consulting physician
• Prescribe medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization.
• Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical and managerial role.
• Maintains current expertise in area of practice.
• Serve as a clinical expert and resource for the education of peers and other health professionals.
Education:• NYS License for a Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN
• Current New York State Nurse Practitioner specialty certification and registration.
• Master's or post masters certificate in specialty as a nurse practitioner preferred.
