GSSi, Inc. is seeking security officers for a unique position as certified school crossing guards at charter schools in South LA.
GSSi provides all training, certification, gear, and equipment. Crossing guards are trained using the California Dept of Public Health guidelines on crossing guard duties.
Crossing guards work the mornings for student arrival and come back to the job site in the afternoons for student dismissal.
Pay Rate: $17.28 per hour approx 30 hours per week.
The typical shift is as follows:
Monday 7am-9am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Tuesday 7am-9am and 2:00pm-5:30pm
Wednesday 7am-9am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Thursday 7am-9am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Friday 7am-9am and 3:30pm-5:30pm
Due to the split shift, the officer is paid an additional hour in addition to the working hours above. Standard work day is a total minimum of (6) hours which includes the morning and afternoon shifts, and the 1 hour split shift differential pay.
Minimum Requirements:
1. BSIS guard card
2. Good customer service/people skills
3. Professional appearance and demeanor
4. Ability to stand, walk for extended periods
5. Basic understanding of safety principles and practices
6. First Aid/CPR (GSSi can assist w/certification)
7. Must have ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Duties:
1. Provide crossing guard services at assigned location
2. Ensure students/children only cross street when safe, use stop paddle to stop vehicles and/or create gaps in traffic.
3. Ensure that children are aware of proper safety rules when crossing streets; instruct children in
basic safety techniques when crossing streets (look left, right, left again)
4. Remain visible to the public during working hours; remain calm in emergency situations.
5. Perform related duties as required.
