Position SummaryGas Control Specialist will have a strong role in handling the SCADA system software, including RTU/PLC programming, graphical display building, database support, and will coordinate with the Gas Control, Engineering, and Pipeline departments for design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of those areas. Employee will lead the weekly, monthly, and annual efforts to summarize SCADA alarms, using logic and rationalization skills to minimize alarm fatigue, and update SJG's Alarm Philosophy if needed to prevent accidents. Hire will assist in updating the SJG Control Room Management Plan and perform periodic testing. Specialist will support the accounting of gas supply, system sendout, large volume meters, billing adjustments, etc and the maintenance and updating of the associated software. Maintains the industrial customer software, Metretek, which includes adding, removing, and editing customers, troubleshooting data flow issues, creating and distributing automated reports, and verifying daily/monthly usages.
Essential Functions -- Maintain and update the South Jersey Gas Control Room Management (CRM) Plan on at least bi-annual basis.
- Coordinate with field measurement personnel and billing to produce volume calculation reports and billing adjustments when necessary.
- Responsible for coordinating efforts associated with customer curtailments.
- Responsible for the daily operation of the AMS (Automated Metering System, Metretek) to ensure the accurate field information is being transmitted and received.
- Responsible for updating, maintaining, and training of the Sendout system.
- Perform duties inherent in all supervisors, professional and administrative positions. Consistent with all positions in this classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required.
- Responsible for the development, implementation and or compilation of SCADA and automation guidelines, technical information and standardized policies and procedures regarding system design, maintenance, operation, and workflows.
- Will be required to work extensively with IT to ensure proper infrastructure and communications design, configuration, and installation.
- Responsible for undertaking process improvement studies and projects; designs and provides technical training; compiles safety policy and procedures; and formulates corrective action where needed.
- The position ensures the proper integration of measurement, automation, and plant control data into SCADA or the enterprise historian to facilitate team decision making and to meet reporting needs or other regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for keeping apprised of technological advances and industry standards in areas of work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Background - - Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience specifically in SCADA systems and LC/RTU machine language programming
- Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Preferred background - Required Skills - - Knowledge of PLC/RTU machine language programming
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and networking
- Intermediate VBA and SQL experience
- Problem solving
- Cybersecurity awareness training
- Microsoft Office proficiency

Compensation Range:$81,750 - 130,800
We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate's qualifications, education, and experience.
