Description
The Director, Data Science will lead a team responsible for advancing workforce insights through innovative data science approaches and cutting-edge technology. This role drives the strategic use of machine learning, predictive modeling, and AI to solve complex HR challenges, such as talent optimization and workforce planning. In addition, this individual will play a liaison and coordination role across IBT, Enterprise Architecture and HR Technology to represent People Analytics’ technology and data needs, ensuring alignment and momentum. This role will lead efforts to identify and gain access to new, relevant HR data sources in alignment with HR privacy and data governance practices. Reporting to the AVP, People Analytics, this role requires an innovative and experienced leader with the confidence and capability to execute a forward-thinking Data Science strategy with multiple facets. Through proactive, influential stakeholder management and business partnership, this leader will ensure that deep insights generated through sophisticated analytics translate into impact at scale in the organization. You'll lead the creation of the HR data science roadmap contributing to Cox’s People Analytics function of the future. The leader in this role must have a track record of successfully managing a dynamic, expert HR data science team, informing a People Analytics data and technology roadmap, leading large-scale HR data science initiatives, and holding accountable multi-level stakeholders in a diverse, distributed organization with a broad portfolio and employee population.
Responsibilities:
- Build HR Data Science competency in People Analytics, creating a multi-year roadmap focused on high-impact insights and value for HR and the business.
- Lead and develop a high-performance data science team, providing vision, coaching, and guidance on project prioritization, resource allocation, and career development.
- Partner with People Analytics leadership to align data science strategy with business needs and ensure actionable outcomes from dashboards and reporting.
- Serve as liaison between People Analytics and data/technology partners to align resources and access new HR data sources.
- Use advanced data science techniques on structured and unstructured data to predict and explain critical business outcomes.
- Lead workforce planning with data-driven forecasting, scenario modeling, and clear communication of results to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to evolve talent data models and deliver impactful dashboards and visualizations.
- Partner with IBT to develop HR data models, enhance Cox platforms, and drive metrics and trends.
- Provide strategic counsel on HR Data Science efforts, prioritizing engagement and supporting ad-hoc analytics and leadership queries.
- Ensure data integrity, automate recurring projects, and maintain data governance while adopting new technologies for improved efficiency and compliance.
Min Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 10 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 8 ears’ experience; a Ph.D. and 5 years’ experience in a related field; or 14 years’ experience in a related fiel
- Previous management experience supervising a high performing people analytics/HR data science reporting team preferred
- Excellent leadership and partnering skills required (partnering and leading peers and colleagues with no formal authority, influence without authority)
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking required; ability to link People Analytics reporting with business outcomes
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to adapt to different levels within the organization
- Must possess an excellent ability to identify sources from advanced analytics to define paths and realize value
- Proven to have a deep understanding of fundamental machine-learning principles and familiar with machine-learning technologies and tools. Possesses strong leadership competencies including verbal and written communication and team collaboration skills
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills
- Strong consultative skills and ability to make persuasive recommendations based on business rationale at the executive level
- Strong executive presence; ability to partner closely with Divisional leadership at multiple levels
- Ability and capacity for self-direction as well as the ability to work within various project teams
- Possesses the ability to draw insights using data and to make meaningful business recommendations

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $156,200.00 - $260,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
