Expectations:
The Director of Patient Flow and Capacity is responsible for developing an integrated approach to capacity management by working closely with leadership across nursing units throughout the organization. This role focuses on optimizing inpatient flow and minimizing bottlenecks related to patient movement. Key responsibilities include managing inpatient capacity, collaborating with clinical teams, implementing data-driven operational practices, and overseeing daily hospital-wide flow. This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
EDUCATION:
BSN required. Master's degree in nursing, business administration, or health administration required.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum of 6 years of nursing leadership experience in an administrative capacity, with a strong focus on inpatient capacity management and patient throughput optimization.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider issued by American Heart Association
Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
SKILLS:
Excellent managerial, communicative and organizational skills.
In-depth knowledge of organization-wide patient flow processes.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to working with interdisciplinary teams.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complex activities within a healthcare system.
Skillful in leveraging resources effectively to meet diverse patient needs.
