Position DescriptionAs a Contract Specialist, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to facilitate, manage, and oversee the contract process from initial proposal to final execution as follows:
- Draft and revise distribution, product supply, and pricing agreements.
- Review and redline terms and conditions on company and customer agreement templates.
- Work closely with company legal team to assess legal terms and conditions.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with customers and their legal teams.
- Provide creative contracting and process solutions to solve unique problems while mitigating risk to the company.
- Consult with Risk, Regulatory, Credit and Customer Relations teams as needed.
- Provide guidance to the Sales team regarding contracting strategies.
- Provide regular status updates to internal teams for contracts in process.
- Oversee the signature process utilizing an electronic signature system.
- Manage existing agreements and workflows:
- Manage a high volume of sales contract documents using a contract management system (CMS).
- Reconcile and maintain contract details and milestones using a contract management system (CMS) and SAP.
- Track and manage contract life-cycle including renewals, expiration dates, and key contract milestones.
- Recommend changes to contract language and processes.
- Assess the need for contract amendments, addendums, and notices letters.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to execute bids, as needed:
- Create comprehensive responses to Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP).
- Track trends within contract terms and answers to Requests for Information (RFI).
- Review and redline RFP agreement terms and conditions.
- Provide additional support for the Contract team and leadership, as follows:
- Manage special projects and assist other departments as needed.
- Maintain Contract Priority List, Contract Status Overviews and other trackers as needed.
- Develop, assess, and implement policies and procedures.
- Develop and update departmental desk procedures.
- Assist with the training of new team members.
- Understand and comply with Applied Medical's Quality Systems (QS), safety rules, and company policies.
Position RequirementsThis position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with strong academic credentials.
- More than two years of full-time experience in a contract specialist position or a related role.
- Possesses outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically using Word to document properties, comparisons, and track changes.
- Experience using a contract management system (CMS) or a contract life-cycle management (CLM) system.
- Knowledge of standard contract terms and conditions with strong contract drafting, reviewing, and editing skills.
- Interpret contract provisions and provide high-level summaries of contract terms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exemplary critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter and ability to work independently as well as within the framework of a team.
- Coordinate multiple projects and prioritize workload.
- Professional demeanor and reliable work ethic.
- Desire to learn and make suggestions to improve efficiencies and form creative solutions.
PreferredThe following skills and attributes are preferred:
- Paralegal experience a plus.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
- Skilled at using SAP Ariba.
- Familiarity with the medical device industry or the healthcare contracting landscape, including Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).
