The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is $68,000 - $72,000 based on experience.
About the role:
The Assistant Director, Student Conduct, Rights & Responsibilities oversees nonacademic student conduct processes for on-campus and off-campus students, fostering equitable, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments that promote holistic development and responsible citizenship.
As a key leader in the conduct process, you will investigate and resolve student-related complaints, manage formal conduct meetings (200-500 annually), interpret university policies, and collaborate on training and educational initiatives. You will also conduct Title IX investigations, support compliance efforts, and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures. Your work will ensure consistency and fairness while enhancing student learning and supporting the university’s Jesuit Catholic mission of holistic development and social justice.
Success in this role requires strong analytical skills to assess and improve processes, an understanding of the legal and institutional frameworks governing student conduct, and the ability to leverage technology and data for operational excellence. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you will work across diverse groups and navigate complex situations. What you will be doing:
University Conduct System
Investigate and resolve student-related complaints, conduct investigations, and advise students on their rights and responsibilities.
Serve as the primary resolution staff member for cases involving marijuana, other drugs, and second alcohol offenses, managing all aspects of formal conduct meetings and follow-up actions.
Support the Director in addressing off-campus conduct issues and ensuring consistent implementation of the university’s conduct process.
Coordinate and deliver training, evaluation, and guidance for resolution staff members.
Recruit, select, and supervise graduate practicum interns through the Higher Education and Student Affairs program.
Assess the effectiveness of the conduct process and educational initiatives, identifying students needing additional support and coordinating referrals to campus resources.
Participate in departmental training, workshops, and serve as part of the Dean of Students on-call team.
Title IX Investigations and Support
Conduct Title IX investigations and support the Title IX Coordinator with intakes and related processes.
Assist with educational outreach and initiatives to foster awareness and compliance.
Policy and Procedure Development
Contribute to the development, review, and interpretation of university policies and procedures related to student conduct, privacy, and student rights.
Provide consultation and support for university-wide policies and responses to trends affecting campus life.
Training, Development, and Outreach
Collaborate with the Director on special projects, case management, and outreach initiatives to students, faculty, and staff.
Act as a designee on the Student Life Care Response Team, supporting students in crisis when the Director is unavailable.
Represent the department at university events, such as FERPA workshops and policy sessions during orientation and open houses.
Assist with the coordination of the annual Clery Statistics report and the maintenance of conduct records in compliance with disclosure and access procedures.
Develop and evaluate outcome options such as workshops, classes, and online tools.
Design and facilitate training programs for Residential Life staff and other resolution staff members.
Collaboration and Committee Engagement
Actively serve on university committees and contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives that support the student community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Strong understanding of student development theories, counseling and intervention models, and student privacy/records laws.
Two to four years of relevant experience in student conduct, residence life, student affairs, counseling, or related higher education settings (private institution experience preferred). Experience in nonprofit or similar sectors with the design, coordination, and evaluation of student-focused conduct programs, development activities, or leadership initiatives is also acceptable.
Experience with crisis response counseling or victim advocacy is preferred but not required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a diverse, urban institutional environment.
A strong commitment to the mission and values of a Jesuit institution.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree is highly preferred.
Experience in victim advocacy is an advantage.
Knowledge and skills with current technology tools and systems are preferred.
