Electrical Design Engineer – Power Amplifier Control – Principal
MACOM seeks a seasoned, well rounded, electrical engineer with experience designing various mixed signal circuits, including power supplies, analog and digital control logic, state machines, to be used with RF systems ranging from VHF to mmWave, Watts to Kilowatts of power. Strong knowledge of analog control theory and circuits (op amps, comparators, analog logic), digital control systems and interfaces (I2C, CAN) required. Experience with microprocessors, single board computers, CPLDs, FPGA is highly desirable. Previous experience with multilayer board design with mixed signal analog/digital highly desirable.
Job requirements may include:
- Power supply design implementation, verification
- Analog control circuit design
- State machine design with analog and digital controls
- I2C, SPI, CAN interface design
- Design circuitry around various instrumentation op-amps, latch logic circuits
- Design circuitry using power controllers, RF device sequencers
- Design circuity using temperature sensors, envelope detectors
- Design power supply and control filtering circuits
Requirements:
- Expert capabilities to use simulations tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, or other similar tools.
- Understanding of microprocessor-controlled systems.
- Ability to analyze and resolve highly complex technical problems quickly and independently.
- Ability to work onsite with a team including layout engineers, mechanical engineers, process engineers, and electrical engineers.
- Ability to work in a lab environment to test and verify amplifier designs against rigid specifications.
- Must be able to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Significant experience designing UHF, microwave, or millimeter-wave solid-state amplifiers.
- Design experience in meeting Military and High-Rel requirements is desired.
- BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent and 10+ years of applicable experience is desired, or MS and 6+ years.
- Due to ITAR regulations, the candidate must be a US person.
