Small, private Working Equitation and Dressage facility with a Grand Prix Dressage and Masters Level Working Equitation Trainer/Competitor in Corvallis, Oregon, looking for qualified help with horse care.
Duties include the care of 8 to 12 horses: clean stalls/paddocks, maintain waters, turn out/in, blanketing, feeding, light arena and facility maintenance, bathe/clip horses, hold horses for vet and farrier, pack/unpack for horse shows, restock feed/bedding, set up for on-site clinics/horse shows, and assist trainer as needed.
Time commitment is approximately 3 to 5 shifts of 2 to 4 hours per day per week. Mornings are preferred, but schedule can be somewhat flexible. Weekday and weekend shifts are available. Must be willing to work some weekends and be able to help cover for other employees as needed. Wages commensurate with experience and reliability.
Opportunity, for the right person, to take a greater role in managing facility, horses and some training duties. Employees can develop greater riding and training skills with lessons at a reduced rate. Space for one easy going horse, at the going board rate, might be possible.
Must love horses and have prior experience with then. Must be comfortable handling, leading, and managing horses of all sizes and ages (including stallions). Must be reliable, able to lift 50+/- lbs, and able to do strenuous work in all weather conditions. This job fits well for students at Oregon State University or Linn Benton Community College.
